Cork Week, West Highland Week and Dartmouth Regatta Summer 2024
Are you a retired member or serving in a demanding staff job and looking for an opportunity to reconnect with serving Sappers or sail with some old friends here is an ideal opportunity.
The Offshore Committee, led by Lt Col Helen Stamp, are developing an ambitious plan to meet Trojan's racing commitments this Summer. All Sapper Units have been invited to assist with the delivery hopefully taking on responsibility for various legs. However units are busy and the likelihood of additional short-notice commitments is high meaning expressions of interest maybe late or subject to cancellation at short notice.
You will have seen from the AGM Papers and the Website that we are asking for the support of retired members and those not serving at Regimental Duty to assist with getting Trojan to each Start Line. The outline dates for each leg are:
Gosport - Cork: 1-15 Jul
Cork - Oban: 20-27 Jul
Oban - Dartmouth: 3-23 Aug
Dartmouth - Gosport: 2-7 Sep
Legs could be split into stages to suit members availability. As ever skippers and afterguard will be hardest to find but this is also a great opportunity for gaining experience, building sea miles and night hours. Those with family and friends of the right age might wish to consider a leg as a chance to take them sailing on a racing yacht. Singletons are more than welcome as we can match available skippers and crew to holes in unit capability or to fill short-notice withdrawals.
This is a demanding aspirational racing programme which will need support from across the Club if we are to succeed. Volunteers to take on responsibility for organising a complete leg would be most welcome.
Members are encouraged to include sailing in company with Trojan or join a port visit in their Summer Cruising Plans. RC (Regions) is happy to act as focus for information on Trojan's movements.
