Ex ATLANTIC QUEST update
The most anticipated event of the REYC calendar, Ex ATLANTIC QUEST is scheduled to launch from MDL Marina Chatham on Thursday 22 June. REYC members (not least the Commodore!) are wholeheartedly invited to the launch event on 22 June in the MDL Marina in Chatham. Closure of REYC Chatham Branch
Members will probably be aware that the Main Committee took the decision in May 2022 to close Chatham Branch, and the Trustees took the decision at the same time to divest the Medway moorings. These decisions were taken against a backdrop of strategic need for the Club and a firm belief that continuation of the Branch and its associated moorings is not consistent with our current or future needs. Long Distance Log Avalanche Trophy. Awarded for a cruise containing a passage of longer than 1,000 nautical miles.

Sappers defend Lagos Trophy for 5th consecutive year
Sappers defend title of Army Inter Corps Team Racing Champions 2022 marks the fifth consecutive year that Sappers have won the Lagos Trophy. After a total of 3 round robins being completed, the Royal Engineers A team were to compete against the REME in a best of 5 races to see who would be the 2022 Army Inter Corps Champions. Many congratulations all.

Postponement of Mary Cup Regatta
During this period of mourning and reflection it would not be appropriate for the Royal Engineer Yacht Club to race the Mary Cup on Sunday 18 September. This reflects MOD Guidance which we as a Service-related charity support. All Royal Engineer Weekend social activities across Medway will also be sharply curtailed, but it should no way should this be seen as constraining decisions made by other sailing clubs on the Medway. Trojan wins Beaufort Cup Fastnet Race at 2022 Cork week
News just in that Trojan has won the Fastnet Race within the Beaufort Cup in the International Inter-Service Sailing Regatta, being hosted by the Royal Cork Yacht Club and supported by the Irish Defence Forces and run as part of Cork Week. https://afloat.ie/sail/events/cork-week/item/55366-trojan-work-by-british-army-pays-dividends-in-fastnet-race-of-beaufort-cup Fantastic achievement for our crew and apparently the first time it's been won by a non-Irish yacht.

150th Anniversary of grant of Blue Ensign Warrant to REYC
Members are reminded that 2022 is the 150th Anniversary of the original Admiralty grant of a Blue Ensign warrant to REYC. This anniversary will be commemorated at key events throughout the year, beginning with the Lymington Meet in May 2022.
