The Royal Engineers Sail Training Week (RE STW) will take place 19 to 23 Sep 22.
Inshore Sailing. The Army Inshore Sail Training Centre at Thorney Island has been booked out for Sapper Sailing and Water Sports. There are opportunities to gain RYA qualifications in Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Kite Surfing, Winging and Power Boating. There will be a friendly dinghy racing event on Thurs 22 Sep 22, and an opportunity to sail on an offshore yacht. Personal/Unit Contributions are £60 for most courses, and £140 for Kite Surfing and Power Boating. Accommodation is £8 per night.
Offshore Sailing. Starting and finishing in Gosport, participants should expect to cover around 100-150 nautical miles during the week, experience night sailing and have a combination of nights in marinas and at anchor. The event will incorporate a VIP visitors day (Thu 22 Sep) and will finish with a BBQ and prizegiving.
- The minimum manning for each yacht is a Day Skipper, Competent Crew, plus up to 5 novice sailors. The REYC may be able to provide qualified skippers if units are unable to.
