Lymington Meet

20th - 22 May 2022

The annual Lymington Meet will take place on Saturday 21 May 22, at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club (RLymYC) with racing in the Western Solent. This event will start of the celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the Club being granted a Royal Warrant for a Blue Ensign.

The format will be similar to previous years with two friendly races, one starting not before 0945 hours and the other at approximately 1330 hours. The Dan Bran Pontoon, https://www.lymingtonharbour.co.uk. has been booked from Fri 20 Sun 22 Sep 22 so that all the REYC yachts can be berthed together to better generate camaraderie and facilitate interaction between serving and retired members.

The morning race will be for REYC yachts only. The afternoon race will include a team of three RLymYC yachts competing in a friendly inter club match for the Carlier Trophy. The first three yachts home in the morning race will represent the REYC in the match in the afternoon. Note that these are designed to be friendly races, due to insurance restrictions.

There will then be a reception in the RLymYC starting at 1815 hours, followed by supper. Cost are £9 per person for the reception and £38 for the three-course supper with wine (£47 for Dinner and Drinks). Dress is jacket and tie or lady's equivalent. Payable, cash or card, on the night at RLymYC. It would be helpful if skippers could collect from their crews and pay a single bill per boat reduce queuing.

The event is very much a social gathering of Sapper sailors, and members are encouraged to bring family and friends. Given 2022 is the 150th anniversary of the awarding of our Blue Ensign it would be great if we had an especially good turnout. If you are not able to bring a boat, why not come along for the reception and supper? It would be much appreciated if members wishing to race on the REYC yachts included in their plans crewing on the delivery and return legs yachts on 20 May and 22 May. Please contact the Offshore Racing Secretary, Maj Helen Stamp at offshore.racing@sappersailing.org to book a space.

Please use the "Book Online" Tab to book tickets for Drinks, Dinner and if required a berth on the Dan Bran Pontoon.
