Published 16:03 on 19 Oct 2022

Cruising Trophies

Long Distance Log Avalanche Trophy. Awarded for a cruise containing a passage of longer than 1,000 nautical miles.

Coastal Log Torch Trophy. Awarded for a cruise in mainly coastal (or inland) waters, of 7 or more days.

Members are reminded to write up their cruising adventures of 2022 and submit an entry for one of the two REYC cruising log trophies.

The awards are open to all serving and retired REYC members. Cruises may be undertaken under sail or power but not on commercial 'cruise ships'. The log is to be written and submitted by an REYC member, who need not be the skipper or owner of the vessel. Entries may be submitted in hard or soft copy format (softcopy preferred), no later than 1 May 2023 to allow for the results and submissions to be uploaded to the website before next season. Please send entries for the Logbook Trophies to Rear Commodore (Regions) at: regions@sappersailing.org. An address fro hardcopy can by provided on request.

Yearbook Articles

When drafting submissions for the Cruising Trophies please consider providing a synopsis for inclusion in the 2022 Yearbook. Non-cruising Trophy articles and photographs for the Yearbook are always welcome and should be sent to Col (Retd) Nigel Montague at: yearbookeditor@sappersailing.org. The Editor is happy to provide advice on layout and length of articles. Members are reminded that the Yearbook provides the basis for updating the REYC History so if you wish your sailing to be recorded for posterity get writing. The closing date for the Yearbook is 1 Dec 22.
